The international computer driving license
The ECDL (European Computer Driving License) concept originated in Finland in 1998 and has spread all over Europe since then, with headquarters in Dublin (Ireland). The success of ECDL in Europe as the defector standard in basic IT training and certification has led to the generation of the concept of the International Computer Driving License (ICDL). This license is equivalent to the ECDL but with an international outlook. Both certificates are now internationally accepted in each of the member countries. The ECDL/ICDL operates under the auspices of, and in association with, the National Computer Society (NCS) in England. ECDL/ICDL Foundation currently operates the Program in 31 countries worldwide, with one million registrants already under its belt. To operate ICDL worldwide, the Foundation licenses a national/regional Licensee to use the concept and establish its program. The UNESCO Cairo Office (UCO) is the designated Licensee for the operation of the ICDL Program in Egypt and its neighboring countries. The ICDL program is comprised of 7 modules. On enrolling for an ICDL course, candidates are issued with an ICDL logbook. This logbook looks like a passport and is issued in the UK. Each time the candidate passes an exam for a certain module he/she is issued a stamp on the logbook. The candidate may wish to take all 7 modules or any. The modules can be studied and tested in any order. The test for each module is 45-minutes long. All tests, except that of Module 1, are practical hands-on tests at the computer. Module 1 is the only one requiring a written test. Having completed all modules successfully the candidate is rewarded with an ICDL certificate that is recognized worldwide. ICDL is for everybody with basic understanding of English and computer terminology, anyone can register to obtain the certification. Regardless of age, education, and background CASBEC will run a free assessment session for candidates who are not sure about their qualifications. ? ICDL provides IT skills qualifications for all. ? It is an innovative and tangible method of skills measurement and validation. ? With the license, your basic computer skills are internationally recognized and the doors for career opportunities are widely open. ? ICDL provides a certification that gives its holders equal footage with counterparts internationally. ? ICDL is a flexible program that allows you to take the exams when you want in whatever order you wish. ? If at first you don?t succeed try and try again". With ICDL this is possible since the candidates can redo the exams until they succeed in obtaining the certificate Situated at the heart of the Faculty of Engineering, CASBEC has matured into a well established training and consultation body. With support from the UNESCO Cairo Office, CASBEC is committed to the highest quality in ICDL training and examination available anywhere in the world. CASBEC is accredited to run the Program in full compliance with the international standards set by the Foundation. CASBEC hires a significant number of dedicated professionals who are trained to run and coordinate the ICDL program. CASBEC houses several computer labs all equipped with modern PCs that are dedicated for training purposes. CASBEC provides a true (digital) 64K Internet service. CASBEC complements its training with audio/visual aids to enhance the educational process. CASBEC provides its trainees with full licensed documentation to assist their coursework and enhance their progress. CASBEC offers competitive prices and special deal packages for academies as well as IT corporations institutions.
