The International Service Center, located in Egypt, is a Center of Excellence inside the Alcatel Group with extended activities allover the region. The ISC provides end-to-end solutions and full turnkey capabilities for both fixed and mobile network projects.

The ISC was established in 1998 with 8 engineers serving 5 countries: The United Arab Emirates, Romania, Portugal, Morocco and Libya. Today the ISC has over 120 engineers, with the objective to reach 140 engineers by the end of 2003. The ISC serves more than 41countries in Africa, Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America with contracts, often 100% handled by Alcatel Egypt.
The ISC Mission:
To provide full support for Alcatel mobile and fixed network services using the skills of highly technical experts capable of delivering the required job at the highest quality and at the same time contributing to the development of telecom expertise in Egypt.

Telecommunication Regulatory Authority - (TRA) was founded in 1998 to organize the communication services sectors in Egypt.
Services:

TRA offers licenses for different services. The following is a list of licensed services:

4- Internet class C
5- Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT)

- Frequency Spectrum:
The management of the frequency spectrum represents a major issue since it involve many objectives that need to be optimized :

TRA is responsible for managing the frequency spectrum in Egypt through the central administration for frequency regulation.
The responsibilities of the department include:
Optimize the usage of the frequency spectrum in accordance with international standard
Planning the assignment of the frequency spectrum to optimize its return without violating national security
Planning for using the unused dimensions
Disseminate information concerning the frequency spectrum policy and usage
Monitor the usage of the frequency spectrum
- Egypt Numbering Plan
Telecommunications numbering plan sets out the charging districts where specific numbers are to be used and which service provider has been allocated a specific number range .There sets depend on type and region of service. A national telephone number presently consists of a maximum of 10 digits.
