IDSC objectives:
Help the cabinet and the different committees in the decision support process in the field of economic and social development.
Study and prepare specialized reports about the different economic and social issues that face the Egyptian society and concern the decision makers.

Egypt, Alexandria University Faculty of Arts شهدت الكلية كذلك تطويرا واسعا فى مجال الدراسات العليا و البحث العلمى فى المعاهد العليا بها او فى الأقسام التى تمنح دراجات الماجستير و الدكتوراه يتمثل ذلك فى كثرة عدد الوافدين إليها من كل أقطار الوطن العربى و غيره على طريق التطور أدخلت نظام الحاسب الآلي فى وحدة مستقلة بذاتها لرصد نتائج الامتحانات و تخزين بيانات الطلاب مراعاة لتحقيق أقصى درجات الدقة و النظام كما انعكس اهتمام الكلية العميق بكنوز مصر الأثرية فى إنشاء متحف خاص بها منذ عام 1945 كانت الكلية سباقة فى إنشاء أقسام علمية فريدة مثل : الأنثربولوجيا و الدراسات الصوتية و الدراسات المسرحية و كذلك فى إنشاء معاهد عليا مثل معهد العلوم الاجتماعية و معهد الدراسات اللغوية و معهد اللغات الشرقية و معهد دراسات البحر المتوسط
