National Telecommunications Institute (NTI)

National Telecommunications Institute is located in an area of 4000 m2 of which 2500 m2 is occupied by the Institute.
The building consists of 4 connected units, each having 3 floors. The first 2 units house the Scientific Department. The third unit includes the Library, the Conference Halls, the Information Center, and the fourth unit houses the Administration. The stores, the workshops, and the Technical Services Department are located in the basement.
Research and training facilities:
The research and training facilities of the Institute rely on:
A team of highly qualified researchers and technical staff graduated from Egyptian and international universities.
Advanced experimental lab facilities:
-Advanced training facilities including a computer-based training system and audio-visual support systems.
-Scientific cooperation with several local and international research centers and universities.
1-Research facilities
The NTI has a total of 21 well-equipped research labs in the different telecommunication fields. These labs are placed in the 5 scientific departments of the Institute and are used for internal as well as joint external research.
2-Training facilities
-A large conference hall that can seat up to 150 persons and equipped with audio and video facilities and cabinets for TV cameras, simultaneous translation and media reporting.
-A large lecture hall seating up to 150 persons and equipped with the appropriate educational facilities
-Eleven training classes seating up to 25 – 30 persons and equipped with advanced computers, LAN networks and connected to the internet.
-Twelve fully-equipped labs in the scientific departments for training and telecommunication experiments.
The library:
The NTI has a scientific library with more than 4500 reference books in the different fields of telecommunication and computer science: technology, policy, management, systems and standards. It also includes 25 scientific periodicals and all research reports and studies done at the Institute. The library is equipped with an advanced information and microfilm systems and is connected to the internet with a high-speed access.
The information center:
The role of the information center in the NTI is to provide different aspects of required information and statistics on the telecommunication sector and on research studies in Egypt and worldwide .The center is connected to the internet with high-speed access.
As a scientific training and research Institute, the NTI objectives are:
-To provide high quality, advanced post-graduate engineering education and training in the field of telecommunications in order to meet the demand for professional engineers in modern telecommunication technology.
-To conduct and sponsor research in the field of telecommunications with the aim of solving technical problems which face telecommunication companies, promoting local telecommunication industry and formulating a better vision for the future.
-To provide technical and policy expertise in the form of consultation services, feasibility studies, network planning, standardization, technology assessment studies and field measurements and testing.
-To organize seminars, workshops and conferences in the various fields of telecommunication technology, policy and management.
